  • Unlike all other finger paddles on the market, Tides' strap holes are positioned so that the strap ends can be under the paddle rather than between your fingers.
  • Strategically placed drainage holes on both sides of the front ensure that the water you're pulling through has a place to escape. This gives the paddle unprecedented stability underwater.

The Magic Behind Finger and Hand Paddles

When you strap on these paddles, whether finger or hand paddles, you increase the surface area of your hands, allowing you to exert more water pressure. They're widely used to enhance arm stroke strength.

Identify Your Mistakes

With increased resistance in the water, it's easier to notice small mistakes or areas for improvement in your stroke—both when your arm enters the water and as it moves beneath the surface. For instance, your hands may unconsciously drift to the side, or your underwater elbow might be angled too wide. In these cases, the paddle will loosen, alerting you that adjustments are necessary.

Purpose of Finger Paddles

Finger paddles are mostly used in freestyle swimming but are also suitable for breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly, although the latter three require some experience.

Finger Paddles or Hand Paddles?

While finger paddles and hand paddles serve the same purpose, there's a significant and important difference, as their names suggest. In short, a hand paddle covers the entire hand to the wrist and beyond the fingers, whereas a finger paddle only covers the fingers, bypassing the palm. This affects how much water is pulled with each stroke.

Thus, hand paddles provide greater propulsion but are significantly harder to swim with. For this reason, we recommend not using finger paddles before the age of 11/they are skilled swimmers and hand paddles at the earliest at 15/they are very strong swimmers. Otherwise, use could lead to serious injuries.
