Arena's short history

The idea for Arena was first conceived during the 1972 Olympics (if anyone remembers, that was the Olympics where Mark Spitz won 7 gold medals and broke 7 world records at the same Olympics), and it was based on Spitz's incredible achievements that Horst Dassler, son of the founder of Adidas, designed Arena to be a dedicated brand for swimming sports and competitions.

And from there, it quickly went from strength to strength. The very next year Horst unveiled the first collection, after which Arena became the sponsor of swimmer Shane Gold, who won 5 individual Olympic medals at the 1972 Olympics.
