How to best get started with the Watery Hero ice bath

If you are new to ice bathing, it is important to start slowly and gently - simply make sure to do it correctly. Start by filling your Hero ice bath with water (and optionally ice cubes) so you reach about 10-15 degrees. Then begin with short sessions of 1-3 minutes.
When your body has adapted to the cold, you can gradually lower the temperature and increase the time.

Always listen to your body - it can be challenging, but never uncomfortable, because then you should stop and try with warmer water temperatures. 

An easy rule of thumb is - as we recommend to new ice bathers: The colder the water, the shorter the time. (And at low temperature, remember to use protective gear on hands and feet to avoid frostbite. Here we recommend our neoprene set)

Warnings and precautions for using the Hero ice bath tub

Ice bathing is healthy and well-documented, but you should always take precautions and consult a doctor if you have existing health problems or are pregnant.

It is especially important to avoid ice bathing if you are pregnant, have a history of heart conditions or high blood pressure, diabetes, disorders such as neuropathy or retinal damage, use a pacemaker, have a history of frostbite, have open wounds, have undergone recent surgery, suffer from epilepsy or have other health concerns or risk factors.

Be aware that children are particularly sensitive to extreme temperatures, and it is always recommended to supervise children when they use the ice bath.

When your body is exposed to cold water, your core body temperature is lowered, which causes blood vessels to constrict and reduces blood flow. This can, in combination with existing health problems, lead to an increase in blood pressure and increase the risk of cardiac arrest or stroke.
