Snorkel adults

In this category you will find a wide range of snorkels for adults. This includes elite swimmers, snorkelling enthusiasts and diving experts. Of course, there is also a snorkel for those who only go snorkelling for fun or on a beach holiday. Nevertheless, there's a snorkel on this site to suit every occasion. So take a look around and find the snorkel you need.

A snorkel for adults is not just a snorkel

Many people might think of adult snorkels as something you only use on beach holidays, for hobby purposes or for UV hunting. However, that's not the whole truth, as there are also snorkels that can improve swimming technique, body position and increase lung capacity. If that sounds like something you need, then you need a centre snorkel.

They allow you to breathe while you swim, so you don't have to keep your head above water. This allows you to fully focus on your breathing, strokes and how you're positioned in the water. They're also designed to minimise water resistance, making them easier to swim laps with.

If, on the other hand, you're looking for a snorkel that will mostly be used to enhance your snorkelling experience, you'll find both full-dry and semi-dry snorkels on this page.

The advantage of a full-dry snorkel is that they don't let water into the tube when you dive underwater. A semi-dry snorkel, on the other hand, will keep water out of your snorkel while you are at the surface. This means that they will seal off any water that may come from waves while you're snorkelling. However, you won't be able to keep water out of the tube if you dive with them. This is because they can't withstand the water pressure they will be exposed to.

To overcome the problem of water in the tube, you can also find a snorkel with a bottom valve. Most quality snorkels you'll find on this site come with a valve system at the bottom of the snorkel, so you can easily blow out the water as soon as you're above the surface.

An snorkel for adults and the right accessories

There are many different accessories for a snorkel for adults. Of course, the first thing you'll need is a good pair of swimming goggles, diving goggles or a diving mask. The advantage of a centre snorkel is that it comes with its own straps, so you don't have to rely on clipping it to the strap of, for example, a diving goggle.

Since a centre snorkel still has your head underwater most of the time, we recommend wearing a pair of swimming goggles with it - both to protect your eyes but also to help you orientate yourself underwater.

Conversely, traditional snorkels need to be attached to a pair of diving goggles or a diving mask, but it's a good thing you can find our large selection of diving goggles here and our wide range of diving masks here.

In addition, you can improve your swimming technique in many ways if you use a pair of zoomers or short swim fins together with your centre snorkel. At the same time, you can make your snorkelling trip a lot easier with a good pair of swim fins or diving fins. If you'd rather have it all together, but still be assured of good quality, you can find all our adult snorkelling sets right here.

If you want to document what you find underwater while snorkelling, we recommend a snorkelling mouthpiece that allows you to attach a Go-Pro camera.

Take good care of your snorkel for adults

With the right maintenance, you'll be able to extend the life of your snorkel considerably, and it's actually very easy to do.

Salt and chlorine water can be very hard on the materials snorkels are made of - especially the silicone part. That's why it's important to rinse your snorkel well in fresh water after each use. This will rinse off the salt and chlorine so that it doesn't tenderise the materials. If you don't rinse your snorkel, you will eventually find that its parts become looser in the joints, the valves leak and the mouthpiece becomes uncomfortable to have in your mouth.

This renders your snorkel more or less useless, which is a shame when you've just found a good snorkel for adults that suits your needs.

After rinsing your snorkel in fresh water, make sure it is completely dry before storing it. This applies especially to the mouthpiece, as otherwise you risk mould and fungus building up. Not exactly what you want to get in your mouth when you go training or snorkelling.

You can easily let your adult snorkel air dry, but we recommend that you dry it with paper towels or a kitchen towel to be absolutely sure.
