Look after your gear

Salt and chlorinated water are often quite rough on the materials that equipment for swimming or other water sports are made from, which can shorten its lifespan significantly. However, it is easy to extend the longevity by following some simple rules of thumb:

• Always rinse off your equipment thoroughly in cold fresh water after use. It removes salt, chlorine and algae that could otherwise soften the materials on your equipment.
• Most equipment should be air dried out of direct sunlight.
• Avoid exposing your gear to sharp objects or rough surfaces, as this could create holes and render the equipment useless.
