Find your new favorite swimsuit at affordable prices right here on Watery.ie

Every woman or girl needs a swimsuit when heading to the beach or the swimming pool. But don't worry, you don't need to spend a fortune or spend hours finding the right one.

No, here at Watery.ie, you'll find a large selection of quality swimsuits at surprisingly good prices - and we receive new arrivals every day.

No, a swimsuit is not just a swimsuit

And yet, we can agree that the different models look alike in many ways. Or, at least, they serve the same purpose, which is to make you look good on the beach or at the swimming pool or help you swim faster during your training.

But that's where the similarity ends among the many different swimsuits you'll find here at Watery.ie.

And as if that weren't enough, there are all sorts of swimsuits for women and girls.

These include:

Swimsuits with legs

Where regular suits have a V-cut at the hips, these have legs. This helps to conceal the thighs and butt better, which some women prefer for a bit of coverage.

See our selection of swimsuits with legs.

Swimsuits with a skirt

A somewhat newer style, but one that has quickly become popular, especially among larger women with curves. A swimsuit with a skirt can help hide your thighs and butt in a stylish way.

Slimming swimsuits

Yes, there are swimsuits designed to provide support and shape, holding certain areas of the body such as the chest or back, and providing a form of support.

Maternity swimsuits

Naturally, as your due date approaches, you'll get a bit "larger," and many expectant women will need a dedicated maternity swimsuit as they near their term. These special swimsuits are larger around the belly and breasts to provide adequate support. It's important to get in the water, whether you're about to give birth or not.

In addition, you'll also find swimsuits, which, unlike various types of swimsuits, are more suitable for relaxation at the beach or leisurely activities in the swimming pool.

Which swimsuit is the best?

It's tempting to ask, but the truth is there's simply no one-size-fits-all answer to which swimsuit is the absolute best. It depends on what you'll be using it for and what matters most to you.

Perhaps you're someone who places a high value on comfort. In that case, a suit with wide straps and high-cut legs would be a good choice as it ensures a comfortable experience in the water with everything in place. If you're a competitive swimmer heading to an important competition, a suit specially designed for that purpose would be ideal. These are the types of suits that minimize water resistance.

If you're more into lounging on the beach or sitting by the pool, then the visual aspect might be more important to you. In that case, the aesthetics matter most, even though a black swimsuit is often the most popular choice.

So, there's not one specific swimsuit that's better than all the others. It depends on who you are.

Which swimsuit should I choose?

Several factors come into play when choosing the right swimsuit. It's not just a matter of personal preference, as there's a significant difference in the function your new suit will serve.

You probably have an idea of what you'll use the swimsuit for. Still, it's a good idea to be clear about the specific categories you should start looking at. You can do this by asking yourself these questions:

  • Will it primarily be used in a swimming pool or at the beach?

  • Will it be used for play, fitness swimming, or competitive swimming?

  • Will it be your primary swimsuit or an extra one?

  • How much does its appearance matter to you?

By answering these questions, you can quickly narrow down your search to find the suits you're looking for. For example, if you're looking for a suit primarily for competitive swimming in the pool, and appearance is less important than functionality, you can go for a classic Speedo or Arena swimsuit. If you still need inspiration, we have a guide on how to choose the right type of swimsuit.

Size guide for swimsuits

Swimsuits come in all sorts of sizes, and just like with anything else, it's essential to choose the right size for your new piece of swimwear.

However, to make things even more complicated, each brand has its measurements for their sizes. This makes it quite challenging to find the right size, as you can't simply compare it to the suit you already have.

But to solve this problem and make it easy for you, we've created an incredibly clear and simple size guide for our swimsuits. You just need to select the brand you want to look at.

Here, you'll use your body measurements, such as hip, chest, and torso length, to determine the right size. You can then choose the appropriate size for each swimsuit on our site.

Leg cut, back, and straps - Find the right design for you

When you're looking at the many different swimsuits on this site, there are some things to keep in mind before choosing your new beach or pool attire:

Leg cut

The leg cut refers to where the suit sits on your leg, how high or low. It can be either low or high.

The low leg cut is typically seen in more modest suits that cover less skin around the legs. An example of this is the Speedo Scuplture Watergem Adjustable swimsuit.

On the other hand, there's the high leg cut, which is preferred by competitive swimmers and fitness swimmers as it offers more freedom and a sportier look. An example of this is the Watery Eco Sunkissed Solid from our own brand.

Back design

When it comes to the back design, you'll mainly find "racerback" and "U-back."

The most popular and preferred by most women/girls is the "racerback" style, which features crossed straps on the back, providing a tighter fit on the body, ensuring that the suit stays in place during swimming or movement in the water. This back design also gives a more stylish and sporty appearance. An example of this "racerback" back is the Arena Solid Lighttech High swimsuit.

On the other hand, there's the U-back style, which is available with both high and low back cuts. This style resembles a 'U' on the back, as the straps do not meet in the middle but go up on each side.

Straps

In general, when it comes to straps, a distinction is made between thin and wide straps.

Swimsuits with wide straps provide natural support to the bust, along with comfort over the shoulders and down the back. Therefore, you'll often see wide straps on swimsuits with low legs and U-backs. An example of such a swimsuit is the popular Speedo Endurance+ Medalist.

On the other hand, there are models with thinner straps, which offer a sportier look and less sensation on the shoulders. An example of such a swimsuit is the Arena Solid Lighttech high in navy blue.

7 Tips for Proper Swimsuit Maintenance

For some, their swimsuit lasts for a whole 5 years, while others need to discard it after each summer season. The difference lies in how it's treated, as treating it right can surprisingly extend its lifespan.

Failure to do so can make it uncomfortable to wear, cause excessive stretching, and risk seam damage.

So, to avoid this, follow these 7 simple tips to extend the life of your swimwear:

  1. Do Not Put It in the Washing Machine
Swimsuits don't fare well when subjected to the harsh treatment of a washing machine, not to mention the excess detergent. So, avoid washing it in the machine at all costs.

  2. Rinse with COLD Water WITHOUT Soap After EACH Use
This is perhaps the most crucial step for durability and longevity. Right after removing your swimsuit, rinse it under the tap with the coldest water possible (without soap).

  3. Do Not Wring It Dry
It's a bad idea to twist the swimsuit to dry it, as it significantly expands it while damaging the fibers inside.

  4. Hang It to Dry After Use
Instead of letting it remain wet and sticky for your next use, make sure to hang it to dry, so it doesn't start to smell.

  5. Don't Share Swimwear with Friends
Even though it might be fun, sharing your swimsuit with friends isn't good for its longevity. They might not have the same body shape as you, risking alterations in fit.

  6. Avoid Putting It in the Dryer
Just like with washing machines, steer clear of tumble dryers, as they can expand the fabric.

  7. Don't Wear the Swimsuit in the Shower
Just as soap should not touch the swimsuit, you should also avoid wearing it in the shower, where soap is often present. So, for the sake of cleanliness and your swimwear's longevity, take it off before going in the shower.

By following these guidelines, your swimsuit should last for several years. If you'd like a more detailed explanation of these tips, you can read our informative post on extending the lifespan of your swimwear.

Popular Swimsuits for Girls/Kids

When it comes to your little girl, what's in style these days? To find out, you need to keep up with the trends because kid's swimsuit fashion changes almost every year.

Therefore, today's most popular swimsuits can easily be "out of style" by next year. What's stylish for adults, such as a black swimsuit, might not be as exciting for kids. Therefore, kids can have fun with swimsuits in various colours before they become too fashion-conscious.

Plus Size Swimsuits

If you're a plus-size woman, you should definitely have a swimsuit that suits you. A swimsuit should fit properly, whether you're swimming in a pool or at the beach. This means you should feel comfortable in it, and it should have the right fit and provide support in the right areas.

Moreover, your swimsuit should ideally conceal the parts of your body that you don't want to show. In our selection, you'll find a good range of plus-size swimsuits.

Not all female bodies are suited for standard-size swimsuits, and fortunately, different types of swimsuits make women feel more comfortable. Here at Watery, you'll see that there are some different designs and sizes available compared to those found in sports stores and most clothing stores.

It's important that you feel comfortable in your swimsuit. It should fit properly, and it shouldn't expose more skin than you're comfortable with. In our selection of plus-size swimsuits, you'll likely find the right swimsuit that you'll actually use. After all, your swimsuit shouldn't be what stops you from swimming and enjoying the water.
