Look after your swimwear

For this reason there are also some guidelines you could follow, to make your swimwear last longer:

• Always rinse your swimwear after use - by rinsing your swimwear in cold fresh water after use, all the chlorine and salt will be washed out, so it doesn't form deposits that will destroy the fabric over time.
• Let the swimwear air dry - since swimwear is typically made from synthetic materials like polyamide and polyester, it doesn't tumble dry very well. The heat and the rotations will basically destroy the fibers.
• Not in the sun, though - again this may sound strange, but the sunlight and it's UV radiation has kind of the same effect as chlorine and salt. It destroys the fibers.

You might think "well hang on - you often tan in your swimwear", which is obviously true. But during tanning you will typically adjust your position slightly, so it's not the same area of the swimwear that gets bombarded by the sun's rays for prolonged periods of time - and this is where the difference is.
