How to choose the perfect diving set

What is a good snorkel?

No snorkelling set is complete without a good snorkel. But how does it work? Firstly, it needs to have stable and ample airflow so you're able to breathe steadily. It also needs to keep the water out so you don't swallow it. That can quickly ruin a good dive.

What a diving mask can do

Your regular swimming goggles may be great for swimming laps at the pool, but they just don't work when you're diving. You simply need a pair of goggles that cover your nose, and that's called a mask. It's extremely difficult to breathe through your mouth without breathing through your nose at the same time, so it's important that your nose is shielded.

Our masks are very comfortable, so you won't feel claustrophobic when you put them on. However, if you prefer to have your nose free, a full face mask is a good option.

Having a full view of what's happening in the water is a big part of the diving experience. Our masks all have great visibility and are easy to empty if a little water gets in, which, as mentioned, is sometimes hard to avoid. You can either choose to buy a mask with anti-fog built in, or you can buy an anti-fog spray. Simply spray the mask before use and you're good to go. You can combine the two for optimal effect.

Our diving masks are extremely comfortable to wear, and they fit snugly on your face so you don't have to stop to adjust. The masks are somewhat larger than goggles, so you'll need a stronger strap to keep them in place. Why you need to have fins included in your diving set

It might not be the first thing you think of, but fins are actually a key item to include in your diving set. When you need to move around underwater, they can help you along the way and make it much easier to move forwards. There's no point in spending a lot of energy swimming around. That's why fins are great, because they give you a light and gliding feel while you don't have to strain to get around.

Our fins are ready to go directly on your bare foot, but you can also use them with a thin neoprene sock if you're diving in colder waters. They generate a safe and powerful kick, making them easy and fun to use in the water without feeling unnatural. Of course, you also avoid cramping with them, which is pretty smart.

You need a neoprene suit if…

A neoprene suit is not necessary if you're going on a quick dive in warm countries. However, it can be useful if you'll be diving for many hours, even in high water temperatures. In fact, if you're diving in Denmark, it always makes sense to pack a neoprene suit in your bag. We just don't have particularly warm water in our small country, so it's often a good idea to use some aids to keep warm.

Neoprene is smart because it allows you to use your own body heat to keep your temperature up. The water around you gets trapped in the neoprene's bubbles and heats up, giving you a smart solution that means you won't get as cold as quickly as if you were just wearing a swimsuit. It's not a drysuit though, so if you're planning on diving in anything resembling winter weather, you'll need one of these instead.
