Sale on snorkel set

In this category you'll find all our best deals on snorkelling sets - both for adults and kids. This doesn't mean that the quality isn't top-notch, but simply that we're always trying to change our collections so we can get a lot of new and exciting items. That's why it's a good time to get your snorkelling set, because the one you've been eyeing could be gone in no time. Of course, there are also high and low seasons for snorkelling sets, but in general, we find that they are almost equally popular all year round.

That's why you'll also find that a lot of our snorkelling equipment will eventually go on sale, but we never know when.

Which snorkelling set should you choose?

Most snorkelling sets come with a diving mask, a snorkel and a pair of diving or swim fins. However, there is a big difference between the different parts.

This is especially true for snorkels, where you'll find sets with a regular snorkel, a semi-dry snorkel or a full-dry snorkel. They all do different things, and to make it easy, we've listed the benefits of the different types of snorkels:

  • Regular J-shaped snorkel: This type is the simplest of all the snorkels. Essentially, it's just a tube bent into a J-shape with a simple mouthpiece. They have no special features and do not protect against water entering the tube. They also don't come with a bottom valve, which means you need to have enough lung capacity to blow the water out of the tube when you reach the surface.
  • A semi-dry snorkel: These models are a good middle ground between a regular J-shaped snorkel and a full-dry snorkel. They protect against water entering the tube - for example, from waves - when you're at the surface. In addition, most come with a bottom valve so you can easily get the water out if water has entered the tube. However, the tube will fill with water if you dive below the surface.
  • A full-dry snorkel: These types of snorkels will always protect against water entering the tube, even if you're diving underwater. Therefore, you will rarely have water that needs to be blown out through the bottom valve. However, you can create buoyancy when diving with them, which can tear the mask and allow water to enter. However, this is a rare occurrence.

Which swim fins are best?

As such, there are no swim fins that are better than others. They all have their own advantages and disadvantages, but we'll try to keep it short here.

Short swim or dive fins give you a high degree of manoeuvrability and can be used for short and explosive leg kicks. They don't give you the best propulsion, but they also don't acidify as easily.

On the other end of the spectrum are the very long diving feet, which require long and steady leg kicks. They give you the most propulsion, but if you kick too hard with them, you'll also acidify much faster. That's why they work best in open water where there's plenty of space.

Finally, we have the stiffness of the fins and how they attach to the foot. If we start with the first, the stiffer the fins, the more propulsion they provide. The downside of this is that you will acidify much more quickly and possibly cramp up. Soft fins are therefore best suited for shallow water, such as swimming between corals and rocks.

Most swim or dive fins will attach to the foot with either a heel strap or a fixed foot. The heel strap has the advantage of being easier to adjust to the size and shape of your foot. However, it is not quite as stable as a fixed foot.

A fixed foot, on the other hand, will be completely attached to the foot and thus provide the best stability, as the swim fins will move in one continuous motion with the feet. This means that the least amount of energy is lost. On the other hand, they are not very customisable and are more difficult to put on. If you slip right into your swim fins, they're too big.

Which diving mask should you choose?

Diving masks are a science in themselves and therefore have their own categories. But in short, it's all about visibility. Some masks let in a lot of light due to the incidence of light in the goggles themselves and will therefore provide a good and clear view. Others will provide a more focussed view, so they don't have as peripheral a view as others, but also remove distracting elements from the view.

There is no right or wrong, as it all comes down to personal preference and where to use your snorkelling set.

Deals make room for more

Since you can save a lot on snorkelling equipment on this site, you might as well make sure you get it all. You should never compromise on equipment, especially if you want the best snorkelling experience.

That's why we also recommend that you buy an anti-fog spray with your snorkelling set, so that the glass in your diving mask doesn't fog up. This will more or less render them useless and ruin the snorkelling or diving experience. We also recommend storing or transporting your snorkelling set in a snorkelling bag. This way you're always sure to have everything together and it makes it easier to keep track of your snorkelling set.

If you're going snorkelling in open water or need a little help with buoyancy, we highly recommend wearing a snorkelling vest. It makes you visible in the water and can be inflated to keep you afloat if necessary. Smart, safe and simple.
