Full-dry snorkel

Are you tired of water getting into your snorkel when you're on the surface or diving beneath it? Then you've come to the right place. In this category you will find a wide range of high-quality full-dry snorkels, all designed to give you the best possible experience when you're out on the water. So take a look around the site and find the full-dry snorkel you need.

What is a full-dry snorkel?

A full-dry snorkel is a snorkel that has a valve system that helps prevent water from entering the tube. This is true even if you're on the surface of the water or dive under from time to time. Here, the valve system will keep the water out, so you don't have to use the last of your air to blow water out of the tube when you come up to the surface.

A full-dry snorkel usually comes with a splashguard that prevents water from being drawn into the tube when you are at the surface. This protects it from waves that can wash over you, so you won't be surprised to find water leaking into your snorkel.

If water does get into your full-dry snorkel, most of the models you find on this site will have a bottom valve so you can easily blow out the water without having to bring it up through the snorkel first.

What to look out for when using a full-dry snorkel

As a full-dry snorkel is waterproof, the tube will be filled with air when you dive underwater. This gives your full-dry snorkel a natural buoyancy that can pull on the strap of your diving goggles or diving mask, which can cause them to become misaligned. This can cause water to run into your goggles or mask, which is always annoying.

However, it's not a significant problem, especially not if you're aware of it. You can further minimise the problem with a good quality pair of diving goggles or a diving mask. They will fit extra tightly to your face, so it will take a lot for them to come loose.

However, this means that many freedivers choose to use a semi-dry snorkel, as it will fill with water as you dive down and therefore won't have the same buoyancy.

However, a full-dry snorkel is for many the most comfortable to use as it removes many concerns about getting water in the tube when snorkelling. Therefore, it's easier to focus on the life below the surface.

Take good care of your full-dry snorkel

Over time, chlorine and salt water can be particularly hard on the materials that a full-dry snorkel is made of. That's why it's important to rinse your snorkel thoroughly in fresh water after each use so that the chlorine and salt water doesn't soften the materials. Otherwise, there is a risk that they will eventually become so fragile that your full-dry snorkel will leak.

It's also important that your full-dry snorkel is completely dry when you put it in storage. Otherwise, you run the risk of mould and fungus accumulating in, for example, the mouthpiece, which is never nice to get in your mouth. Should this happen, you can remove it by washing the snorkel in water and a small amount of Rodalon.

A full-dry snorkel can easily be air-dried, but not in sunlight, as the strong rays can have the same effect as chlorine and salt water. We also recommend that you dry it with paper towels or a dry kitchen towel to make sure it is completely dry.
