Swimwear for women

With us you will find a wide selection of swimwear for women - with a special focus on swimsuits for both swim training and holidays. We are well aware of how much difference the right fit makes: when swimwear fits well, it feels better in the water, stays looking good longer and gives you peace to simply enjoy your time at the pool or at the beach.

That is why we have gathered well-known swim brands like Speedo, Arena, Watery and TYR - in different price ranges, colours and prints, so you can find the model you are dreaming of.

  • Choose according to need: training in chlorinated water, holidays and beach - or extra support and coverage.
  • Sizes vary from brand to brand - use our size guide and get a more secure match.
  • If you are unsure about fit or size, our customer service will gladly help you with specific suggestions.

Find women's swimwear by need

Many choose swimwear based on colours and prints - and you are welcome to do that too. But it is typically your needs that decide whether you end up with a favourite you actually use again and again. If you train at the pool several times a week, fit, straps and chlorine-resistant materials should weigh more than "the prettiest print". If, however, you will use the swimwear on holiday, you can often choose more freely by look - as long as you still get the support and coverage that feels comfortable when you move, swim and sunbathe.

  • Training several times a week: snug fit, chlorine-resistant materials and straps that stay in place.
  • Holidays and beach: comfort, design and preferably support (e.g. underwire) if you want it.
  • More support: wider straps, higher back and models with underwire or padding.
  • More coverage: leg coverage, a skirt or a long-sleeved or UV-protective design - depending on what you feel most comfortable in.
  • Plus size and maternity: focus on good torso length, stable support and comfort in edges and seams.

Swimwear for swim training

If you go swimming and train several hours a week, your swimwear should sit snug and secure - without rubbing or slipping when you turn or swim freestyle. Look especially for models with sturdy straps and a fit that feels "firm" without being tight. And because swimwear naturally is exposed to a lot of wear with frequent use, it can be an advantage to have more than one favourite to rotate, so you always have a dry and well-functioning model ready.

Tip: Use the filters on this page to find training-friendly models - e.g. with a more closed back, stable straps or extra coverage.

Swimwear for holidays and the beach

If you are going to use swimwear on a summer holiday, design often matters more - maybe you are looking for a particular colour or a special summer print. Here it is especially about comfort over many hours: a comfortable trim, good lining and the right support can make a surprisingly big difference. If you want to feel extra "supported", look for models with padding or underwire, and also consider whether you prefer more or less coverage at the hips and back.

Extra support and coverage

If you have a greater need for support - or you just want to feel more comfortable - it is often the details that determine the right choice. Models with underwire or padding can provide more shape and stability, while wider straps and a higher back typically give a calmer fit. If you want more coverage, swimwear with leg coverage, a skirt or a long-sleeved design can be a good choice, especially if you want to avoid anything "cutting in" at the hip or just want a bit of extra reassurance.

Tip: If you are unsure about fit or size, use our size guide - or contact customer service for specific help.

How to best care for your swimsuit

We usually have a favourite - that swimsuit or that bikini that just fits really really well - and of course we want to take good care of it. And although swimwear from good swim brands is made to be used, chlorine, salt water, sun and heat are still the things that typically wear fastest on the elasticity and colours. Fortunately, with a few simple habits you can make a noticeable difference to fit and durability.

  1. Rinse in cold fresh water after use. Chlorine, salt and sweat remain in the fabric and over time can make the material more "tired". A quick rinse helps the swimwear preserve both shape and colour.
  2. Let the swimwear dry completely - preferably in the shade. Hang it up to dry or lay it flat to avoid damp smell and unnecessary wear. Also avoid radiators and direct sun for extended periods, as heat can affect the elastic.
  3. Avoid wringing and "scratching" it to pieces. Press the water out gently instead of wringing hard, and be aware of rough edges by the pool or tiles that can make small snags.
  4. Wash only when necessary - and as gently as possible. If the swimwear needs more than a rinse, use mild soap and avoid fabric softener, as it can affect the material's properties.
  5. Preferably do not lend out your swimwear. Fit is personal, and even

small differences in body shape can, over time, stretch straps and elastic, so your style may not feel exactly the same afterwards.

At Watery we often see that the small everyday things are what decide whether swimwear continues to sit "as it should". If you are unsure about fit, size or which type best suits your needs, our customer service will gladly help with concrete suggestions.

Size and fit: How to find the right swimwear for you

Swimwear needs to fit correctly before it feels right. And here many are misled, because sizes are not the same from brand to brand. So instead of guessing (or ordering "what you usually do"), make it easy for yourself: use our swimwear size guide and choose the brand first - you will hit the mark much more often on the first try.

How to do it:

  • 1) Measure yourself: Take bust, hip and torso measurements (the torso especially makes a difference for swimsuits).
  • 2) Choose the brand in the guide: Find the brand and match your measurements to their sizes.
  • 3) Do a quick fit check: When you try on the swimwear, check these points before you keep it.

Your fit check:

  • Torso length: Raise your arms and stretch. If you notice the swimwear pulling at the shoulders, or that the straps become short, choose a style with more torso length. If you bend forward and get "bags" at the lower back or tummy, opt for a shorter torso or a more form-fitting cut.
  • Bust and support: If you want more support and stability, look for models with padding or underwire - and choose a size where the band feels firm without pinching.
  • Hip and cut: If it cuts into the hip, try a different cut or more coverage (e.g. leg or skirt) - often this solves the problem immediately.
  • Straps and back: If you train, choose a back and straps that keep the swimwear in place when you move. It should feel stable - not like something you are constantly adjusting.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should women's swimwear fit?

Swimwear for women should fit snugly and securely without pinching. It should feel “firm” when you put it on (especially a swimsuit), as the material typically loosens slightly in water. Do a quick test: lift your arms, stretch, and squat. If you constantly feel the need to adjust the straps, bust, or neckline, then the style is not optimally suited for your needs.

What is the difference between swimwear for swim training and swimwear for vacation?

Swimwear for swim training is designed for frequent use in chlorinated water and should therefore have a more secure fit, stable straps/back, and materials that withstand many trips to the pool. Many choose swimwear for vacations based on design and comfort, but support (e.g., padding or underwire) and coverage (e.g., skirt or more closed back) can still be crucial if you want to feel comfortable all day by the beach and pool.

How do I find the right size in women's swimwear?

Measure the bust, hips, and especially torso length, then use the specific brand's size guide. When trying on the swimwear, perform a fit-check: if it pulls on the shoulders when you lift your arms, you typically need more length in the torso. Conversely, if there is looseness at the lower back or stomach, opt for a tighter fit or a style with a shorter torso. This way, you are more likely to get it right the first time – even when brands size differently.

How do I prevent swimwear from becoming see-through?

Opt for swimwear with good lining (or double layer) and a fit that doesn't become too tight. Too much stretch can make the material more “thin,” especially when wet. Check in good light: wet the fabric (or hold it up to light) and see if you can discern outlines. If you want to be extra certain, choose styles where the product description mentions lining, or where the material feels dense and robust.
