Wetsuit 3 mm

Many water sports activities can be practiced all year round, but if you do them in Denmark, you'll need some extra equipment if you don't want to do them only in the summer months. In this category you'll find 3mm wetsuits that can extend your activity calendar for 3-4 months. This is especially true if you're an open water swimmer, love snorkelling or are passionate about paddleboarding.

The right wetsuit thickness makes a difference

There are many different reasons to wear a wetsuit. Especially if you love water sports activities that require long periods of time in the water. As a rule of thumb, water temperatures below 22 celsius require a wetsuit if you're going to be in the water for more than 10 minutes. This time limit decreases the colder the water is.

With a 3mm wetsuit, you will be able to handle water temperatures from 12-20 celsius, which would be the warmest half of the year in Denmark. Therefore, you will also be able to enjoy SUP or ocean swimming from spring to autumn, which is always much better than just July and August.

With a 3mm wetsuit, you'll be able to stay warm whether you're above or below the water. The advantage of a wetsuit is that it forms a protective layer that is heated by your own body heat. This creates a barrier between your skin and the water's lower temperature.

However, it is important to mention that a wetsuit that is too thick can overheat the body. Therefore, it is also important to choose the right thickness as you can get a wetsuit in 5mm and a wetsuit in 7mm.

Almost all wetsuits are made of neoprene, which consists of rubber, polyester and air bubbles embedded in the fabric. This provides good thermal insulation and a bit of buoyancy.

Choose the wetsuit you need

A 3mm wetsuit is ideal for most water sports activities practiced in Denmark. Especially paddleboarding and snorkelling in the months from spring to autumn. They will provide you with the right thermal insulation, while also offering excellent mobility..

You will therefore also feel more free when SUPing or snorkelling in the water surface. However, you should be aware that they don't cover your hands, feet or head. So if you tend to freeze those parts of your body, we recommend neoprene hoods, neoprene gloves or neoprene socks. Additionally, a pair of SUP shoes is a great idea if you love paddleboarding.

If you're going to use your 3mm wetsuit for snorkelling, we'd also recommend a good diving mask, a nice snorkel or a full snorkelling kit. Then you can be dressed just right for your next trip on or in the water.
