How to care for your neoprene wetsuit

Storing wetsuits

Whenever possible, store your wetsuit on a wide hanger to avoid both scratches and damage to the suit. As your wetsuit dries, it tends to mould itself to the hanger it hangs on. Therefore, make sure you use a wide and sturdy hanger that can withstand a wet wetsuit.

You can find companies that sell hangers specifically for wetsuits. Don't use a metal hanger as it can rust. For long-term storage, store your wetsuit in a dark, cool place away from the sun. You should also not store neoprene products in your garage as car exhaust fumes can damage neoprene.

You can wash your wetsuit at a mild temperature. Use a wetsuit cleaner if necessary. You should pay special attention to cleaning around the zip as well to extend the life of the wetsuit. Hanging the suit to dry out of UV sunlight will benefit you as it will also be dry on the inside and easier to get into.
