Pullbuoy
Swimming with a pullbuoy (or pullboy) is good for many things. Not only can it improve your swimming technique, but it also strengthens your stroke strength. But you shouldn't just pick any pullbuoy. They need to fit comfortably between your legs without chafing, but also be shaped in such a way that they stay in place even after repeated turns. But just take a look around this site and find your new favourite in terms of colour, design and shape. There is definitely a pullbouy that suits you!
There's not much difference between the different types of pullboys, you're probably thinking. It's just a piece of rubber that you put between your legs and you swim. But that's (unfortunately) not the case.
There is a big difference in the shape of the pullbuoy from the different swimming brands, which is crucial to whether it stays between your legs for longer distances. Some of the pullbuoys that stay between your legs forever are, among others, TYR's pullbuoy, Speedos pullbuoy, Arenas pullbuoy and those from our own brand Watery.
Just as you use swim boards to "remove" your arms so you can concentrate on your legs, a pullbuoy can also "remove" your legs so you can concentrate on your arms. And it's pretty effective if you ask us. Not only is arm training a good way to vary your workout a little, so that it doesn't just become compound swimming all the way, but swimming with a pullbuoy between your legs is also effective for simply pushing through on your arms without your legs having to keep up. This way you are also "forced" to push extra hard with your arms, as your legs don't really help you move forwards.

When choosing your new pullbuoy, there are a number of things to consider. There are a number of different types, some of which are used for beginners who are learning to swim, while others need a different type because the pullbuoy needs to remain between the legs for a longer period of time.
No matter what kind you need, the following things should be met:
- It has to be relatively large
- It should not splice between the legs
- It has to be made of foam plastic
All of these things are fulfilled by our pullbuoys here at Watery.ie - so no matter which one you choose from our selection on this page, you'll never go astray. Another product you're sure to love for your next swim workout is without a doubt our finger paddles, which add a lot of extra strength and speed to your arm stroke and swimming. Quick note: The Speedo Elite
pullbuoy is probably the most widely used
pullbuoy in Ireland. This is not least because it never (as in never) slips away between the legs.
