Microfiber towels

Here on this page, you will find Ireland's largest selection of microfibre towels for all situations - the swimming pool, the beach, the bathroom, etc.

The advantages of a quick-drying towel over regular cotton towels are clear:
1) They dry more water off
2) They don't need to be hung up to dry after use
3) They retain their absorbency for a longer period.

For these reasons, a microfibre towel, also known as a quick-drying towel - like the ones you see here - would be an obvious choice for competitive swimmers, fitness swimmers, and children who need to be dried off time and again after trips to the pool on holiday or the bath at home.

If you're looking for an alternative for the little ones, we can only recommend checking out our selection of children's bath ponchos right here.

How large is a microfiber bath towel?

Our quick-drying microfiber towels come in a variety of sizes to suit your needs perfectly.

We offer a large microfiber bath towel which is the size of regular towels that you would typically use at home after a shower. These towels measure approximately 150*90 cm.

If you are looking for an even larger microfiber towel, then you should consider our very own Watery Nebraska quick-drying towels. They are particularly popular due to another significant benefit of microfiber towels - their high resistance to water and sand. This makes our Nebraska range a favourite among families with children, as the towel is big enough for everyone to have a place on it.

Moreover, they are also well-suited as a microfiber bath towel both in terms of function and size. This is why many people use these microfiber towels as travel towels, as they take up maybe one-fifth of the space of a regular towel.

You can find our extensive range of travel towels right here

Many people use microfiber towels to quickly dry off as soon as they come out of the water, which is why they are known as quick-drying towels. Once you are completely done swimming, you then use a regular towel.

Quick-drying or lightweight towels?

When browsing online for information about 'microfiber towels', you'll often come across terms like 'quick-drying towel', 'lightweight towels', and of course 'travel towels', which can be a bit confusing for some (we understand). But is there any difference between these, or are they just different names for the same product?

The answer is simple. There is virtually no difference between these towels. A quick-drying towel simply describes the functionality of the towel made of microfiber material, so in short, they are different names for the same item.

The uniqueness of these quick-drying towels

As you may have already noticed, there is quite a lot that is unique about a quick-drying towel.

Essentially, it's a great alternative to regular towels, but it doesn't seem to be a complete replacement.

While you use the quick-drying towel for fast, "small" drying tasks on your body - for example, just after you get out of the water from a swim race - the regular towel, which is often made of cotton, is still ideal for use once you're finished with the water, as such a towel just works best then.

The reason for this difference is the material from which these lightweight towels are made.

As the name suggests, they are made of tiny microfibers, which together create an effect where, after each time you have dried the body of droplets, you can simply wring out the towel, and then it is ready to dry the body again.

This can be done numerous times before it finally needs to be hung up to dry again.

This is simply not possible with a regular towel made of cotton or other fabric, as they become completely soaked with just a single use.

You're probably familiar with that, aren't you?

Why buy a quick-drying towel?

There can be many different reasons to purchase a quick-drying towel. The most obvious one is if you are a competitive swimmer attending many swimming competitions. It's extremely convenient to have a towel that you can use to dry off after emerging from the water during competitions that often last for several hours.

It's great to have a towel that isn't damp and musty by the end of the day. For competitive swimmers, the quick-drying towel is also ideal for training sessions where you're getting in and out of the water multiple times. For instance, this could be when you're swimming tests.

However, you don't have to be a swimmer to find use for a quick-drying towel. It's also very suitable for a day at the beach, where you're constantly running back and forth between the sand and the waves. The towel can help to quickly and effectively remove the worst of the water, and then it's ready to use again the next time you come out. Then the regular towels can be used for lying on without them getting wet and uncomfortable.

How soft is a microfiber towel, then?

To settle the matter once and for all: a microfiber towel should/cannot be directly compared with a regular cotton towel due to the different materials, so with microfiber, one doesn't achieve the same luxurious feeling of being completely dry and it feeling entirely soft. But that's not the intention of such a towel.

Moreover, a microfiber towel also becomes quite stiff after use when it is allowed to dry. This is due to the different materials it's made from.

However, it can easily be made supple again by getting it wet (ironically), after which you wring it out, and then it's ready for use again and again.

Microfiber towel - which should you choose?

Firstly, a microfiber bath towel will be a very good complement to one's use of regular towels.

This is because for the small dry-offs one can use the more convenient and compact microfiber towels, and for the final drying one can use the cotton towels.

This way, one avoids having to repeatedly dry and wash the large towels, while also not having to fill one's entire swim bag with bulky bath towels.

When it comes to the microfiber towels themselves, you need to decide whether you want a large or a small one.

If you desire a large one, then you should choose our Arena Halo towels. These are the size of regular towels but still only occupy a fraction of the space because of the unique material.

If, on the other hand, you want something smaller that you can quickly dry off with during/after training or at the competition, then our TYR microfiber or Speedo microfiber would be the obvious choice.
