Neoprene caps - Recommendations
A neoprene cap is one of the most optimal ways to avoid hypothermia, when swimming or diving in cold water. A lot of our body heat dissipates through the scalp, which makes the head a source of a lot of heat loss to the surroundings. Thus, it isn’t much use to have a great wetsuit, if your head gets too cold from too much cold water.
Here, a neoprene cap will provide the necessary heat insulation, so it will become both more comfortable and safe to swim in the open water.
The biggest difference between the different neoprene caps is the surface itself. Some of them have a smooth neoprene surface, making them more streamlined in the water, while they reduce water resistance, and others are in a rougher neoprene. Here we recommend the ones with a smoother surface specifically for open water swimming, and the one with the rougher surface for beginners / the beach / snorkelling.
