That's why there are also goggles for the elite swimmer, the exerciser and the water dog. If you need strength in your goggles, you can also find them on this page. With the wide range of swimming goggles from Watery, you're sure to find a pair that suits you.

What requirements should you have for your Watery swimming goggles?

There are some things you should consider before buying your next pair of swimming goggles. For the sake of clarity, we've listed them:

  • Can you easily adjust the straps?
  • Do they come with interchangeable nose bridges so you can get the best fit?
  • Are you anti-fog treated and 100% UV protected?
  • Do they have a high or low profile? And how much visibility do they provide in the water?
  • How big is their skirt?

After having answered these questions, it will be much easier for you to narrow down the field of possible candidates and find the right swimming goggles.

However, two of the questions are automatically answered by Watery swimming goggles, as they all provide 100% UV protection and are anti-fog treated. They will, however, require re-treatment with an anti-fog spray after some time of use, but this is obvious when they start to fog up.

All Watery swimming goggles are also easy to adjust in their elastics and straps, but some are easier than others. This is especially true of the swimming goggles aimed at kids. This makes it possible for kids to adjust them themselves when they're at swim practice, for example.

In addition, most Watery swimming goggles come in low profile with interchangeable nose bridges, as it is important for elite swimmers that they fit snugly, minimise water resistance and are 100% waterproof. In contrast, Watery swimming goggles with a larger profile have flexible premium silicone eyecups that have a unique absorbency around the eye. This significantly reduces the risk of them falling off in the water.

Last but certainly not least, visibility plays a big role in how well you can orientate yourself in the water. Elite swimmers don't need a wide field of vision, as they need to maximise hydrodynamics as much as possible. Therefore, they will benefit the most from swimming goggles with a very low profile, small lenses and a narrow view.

The opposite is true for those who need to use the goggles in open water or for smaller kids. Since visibility is always lower in open water than in the pool, it's important to have a wide field of vision so you can orientate yourself much more easily.

For smaller kids, a larger profile and skirt means they fit much better to the face. This allows kids to better orientate themselves in the water, giving them much more confidence when swimming and diving around.

What type of lens should my swimming goggles have?

As you scroll around this page, you'll probably notice that many of the different models have different lenses. They affect which environment the goggles are best suited for, and it all has something to do with light. Generally speaking, there are four different types of lenses, so to make it easy, we've listed their differences:

  • A swimming goggle with a clear lens is best for low light conditions and where you are not exposed to bright light. They won't protect you from bright light, but you will see everything in natural colours. Therefore, they are also ideal for e.g. indoor pools without strong overhead lighting.
  • Swimming goggles with a smoke lens are similar to a normal pair of sunglasses and can therefore handle the same type of lighting conditions. Since they can handle most situations with medium light, they are a good all-round swimming goggle that can work both indoors and outdoors - just not in too bright light.
  • Mirror lenses in a pair of swimming goggles are made for bright light conditions, such as outdoors in bright sunshine. They reflect a large amount of sunlight away from your eyes, which means that your vision can become very dark if you're not in strong, bright light conditions. This is often the type that professionals use for competition, as the dark view makes it easier for them to focus without being disturbed by outside elements. For this reason, they can of course also be used indoors.
  • Swimming goggles with a Blue lens/coloured lens are similar to those with a clear lens, only your vision has a slight bluish or coloured tint. This means you see almost everything in their natural colours, but with protection from strong light sources and reflections as their power is significantly reduced. This makes them ideal for open water swimming as it protects against reflections on the surface of the water..

That's why you'll find a wide range of Watery models, all with very different types of lenses. But if you follow the listed descriptions roughly, it will be easier for you to narrow down the field.

Combine your new Watery swimming goggles with additional equipment

No matter what water activity your new Watery swimming goggles are for, it's always a good idea to keep them well protected. The easiest way to do this is with a goggle case that ensures safe transport and storage of your swimming goggles. This way, they won't get scratched, which can affect visibility. This would essentially render them almost useless, which would be a shame.

If you're an elite swimmer, it's a good idea to have one only for competitions and one or two pairs for training. This way, you won't wear out your competition goggles unnecessarily, causing them to become loose in the straps and nose bridge. This will make them less hydrodynamic and thus provide greater water resistance.

We also always recommend wearing a shower cap with your Watery swimming goggles, whether you're an elite athlete or a recreational swimmer. It protects your hair, gets you in the water faster and prevents the straps of your swimming goggles from pulling your hair.
