Water shoes for adults - Recommendations

Water shoes for adults are just as good an idea as water shoes for kids, since adults can also be struck by accidents in the water. Often the dangers lurk underneath the bottom of the sand, which means that you risk stepping on sharp rocks, spikes from sea creatures, fishing hooks and other unpleasantries. The same goes for hot sand and surfaces, where you can risk burns.

At the same times, the water shoes provide a secure footing, no matter if it is on wet or dry surfaces, thanks to their non-slip soles.

The common factor for all water shoes is that they come with a non-slip sole, and is lined with neoprene that resists UV rays and scolding of the feet. Even though most of the bathing shoes are as good in the water as they are on land, some models have an easier drainage system, that easily leads water out of the shoe. This means they dry faster than other models.

To achieve this, multiple types of water shoes exist:

• Fixed water shoes: These are often the cheapest. The benefit is that once you have put on the shoes, they stay on. The disadvantage is that they can be a bit clingy, and heat up your feet if you are not in water.
• Adjustable water shoes: These are typically the second-cheapest. These can be adjusted over the strap or on the back with a buckle or Velcro. These won’t feel clingy to the same extent, since you can adjust the firmness, but can still get hot since they are also closed in their construction.
• Bathing sandals: These are typically the most expensive kind, but also the most popular. These are typically recommended during the summer, since the bathing sandals provide air for your feet, and a less clingy fit.
• Bathing socks: These are not shoes per se, but more like a sock. So without a thick sole and in thinner polyester. These won’t protect you from sharp objects as well as the shoes, but are very light and airy to wear. Often these are used to protect the feet from UV rays.
