Waterproof headphones - Recommendations
For most people who exercise, music acts as a source of inspiration, providing motivation and breaking up the triviality of swimming back and forth. The downside is that most music equipment can't withstand water, which is why waterproof music players and headphones are brilliant.
They're designed for swimming and can stay in the water for as long as the batteries can hold power. This provides a unique opportunity to complete long workouts or sprint extra hard during relevant exercises. Conversely, the whole experience can be much more aesthetic during open water swimming with your favourite music in your ears and the beautiful natural surroundings.
The obvious solution would be to use Bluetooth from your mobile phone on the edge to the waterproof headphones you swim with. Unfortunately, Bluetooth cannot be transported through/underwater, so this is technically not possible.
However, there are still several ways to enjoy music/podcasts while swimming:
- Music from your phone: Because you can't use Bluetooth to access music, you need to keep your phone on you while swimming. This can be done by using the waterproof mobile phone holders you can wear around your upper arm or waist swimming belts. Put your phone in the holder and connect it to a pair of waterproof headphones, which you then put in your ears. This way you don't need to download anything and can use your phone
- Music from an MP3 player: Firstly, you'll need to buy a waterproof MP3 player, which you'll need to keep on you, usually hanging from the back of the goggle straps. To this, you connect a pair of waterproof headphones. This solution is not Bluetooth, and therefore you need to download music/podcasts to the MP3 player
- Music from MP3 Bone: Here you combine the music player and headphones in one. These will sit around your head, where you again need to download music/podcasts to the MP3 Bone music player/headphones.
