Towels - Recommendations

A good towel is an important part of every swimmer's equipment, which places particularly high demands on its quality. As it is often used several times a day, it is essential that it dries efficiently, has a large size and is quick-drying. Otherwise, many swimmers will need a separate swim bag just for towels.

That's why the features of different towels vary greatly depending on the material they're made from. A cotton towel absorbs water efficiently, which has the disadvantage that it gets soaked quickly and dries slowly. A microfiber towel, on the other hand, will “brush” the water off your skin but doesn't absorb it, which means it's quick-drying and can be used multiple times in a row. However, it doesn't provide quite the same nice soft feel that a cotton towel can provide.

For this reason, the different towels are also suitable for very specific circumstances. If you're going to the beach, a microfiber towel has the advantage of being reusable and sand-repellent, so it doesn't feel like you're wiping yourself with sandpaper.

Plus, it takes up much less space than other towels, making it easy to carry in your swim bag without taking up all the space. On the other hand, there's just something special about wrapping yourself in a cotton towel after your last swim. And if it's a big enough size, it can easily be used multiple times.
