Shower caps - Recommendations

For some, the main function of a shower cap is to gather the hair so it doesn't create water resistance while swimming. For others, they want to avoid chlorine in their hair.

Another advantage of wearing a shower cap is that it prevents the straps of your goggles from tearing your hair.

If you're swimming in open water, it's a good idea to wear a shower cap in a colour that stands out from the surroundings and lights up. This makes it easier for paddleboarders, surfers, kayaks and boats to spot the swimmer in the water, thus avoiding ugly and potentially fatal accidents.

Shower caps come in several types and sizes

Latex: The cheapest material for shower caps. Typically, quite loose and doesn't hold its shape very well
Silicone: The material we always recommend shower caps in. They fit more firmly on the head and hold their shape brilliantly. It's definitely the best choice for anyone who will be wearing a shower cap for actual swimming, whether it's for competitive or recreational swimmers
Size: If you have hair over 25 cm, you should choose a shower cap specifically for long hair. If you have less than that, you should always choose the standard shower cap
