Unique features of the Garmin Swim 2

Garmin Swim has been on the market for a long time, but now the update has arrived in the form of Garmin Swim 2. And it's not just a small update. I'll try to go through the coolest features below:

• Measure your heart rate from the wristband
  This is the biggest new feature of the Garmin Swim 2. Now you can measure your heart rate directly from the wristband - both under and above the water. Without the need for a chest strap.
• Advanced swimming features
  The Garmin Swim 2 can track a LOT of specific metrics for your swim. This includes all the usual ones such as pace, distance, swim stroke and style, but also new features such as automatically inserted pause time, predicted swim speed (CSS), alerts at each turn in relation to the desired pace directly from the swim watch and logging of swimming exercises. Other cool metrics include "SWOLF Score" and countdown to the start of a series. And you can keep track of it all directly in the watch while you swim.
• Open-water mode
  The watch has built-in GPS so you can track distance, pace, distance per swim stroke and your exact swim route in open water
  
• Do your swim workout in advance
  With the virtual programme, Garmin Connect, you can enter your desired swim workout in advance, and the watch will also tell you when to start each distance and how to swim along the way

About the watch - Dimensions, battery life, colours and accessories

The Garmin Swim 2 is a further development of the popular original Garmin Swim.

The watch itself is made from a small and lightweight design and material, with an always-on full-colour Garmin Chroma display that is easy to read - even in direct sunlight.

The watch has five buttons on the side that allow you to switch between information, start and stop workouts and marking when you have completed a specific distance. All with a quick press of one of the five buttons.

In addition, Garmin Swim automatically uploads all swim and health data to Garmin Connect, Garmin's own free fitness software, where you can drill down into your data, prepare swim workouts and see your swimming progress.

The watch has a thickness of 11.4mm and weighs 36g

My personal experience with Garmin Swim 2

As a former elite swimmer, I've never swam with a swim watch before. We had a swimming programme to follow. But as a current recreational and open water swimmer, I have never been so happy with a piece of swimming equipment as this swim watch, which I have had the pleasure of swimming with for the past two weeks.

It's an incredible feeling that the watch can measure your heart rate directly from the watch on your hand. It saves me from annoying heart rate belts around my chest that keep slipping back down. Also, it actually works. It adds a whole new dimension to my swimming as a recreational and open water swimmer.

Another thing I really love about the Garmin Swim is that I can almost switch my head off completely when I'm swimming. The watch tracks everything from distance, strokes, swim pace and length per stroke. It's a relief from the constant counting I've been used to when I've been swimming.

To be honest, I never thought I would love the watch, let alone keep using it for every swim. But I can't help it now. Today, the watch is more important than my goggles when I go to swim training.

So I definitely recommend the Garmin Swim 2 swim watch.
