How to Care for Your Competitive Swimwear
Competitive swimsuits and swim trunks are technical garments with welded seams and applied finishes. They last longest and maintain fit and compression when handled gently:
- Rinse immediately in cold, clean water after each use—even after exposure to chlorine and saltwater. Don’t wait until you get home.
- Hand wash only. Never use a washing machine or dryer. Heat, spinning, and friction can degrade fibers and loosen seams and finishes.
- Use mild soap or detergent specifically for swimwear. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners.
- Never wring the garment. Gently press out the water.
- Dry flat in the shade, away from direct sunlight, radiators, or other heat sources.
- Don’t leave wet swimwear in a bag or wrapped in a towel—it traps heat and chemicals that wear down materials.
- Avoid rough surfaces like pool edges and tiles, which can snag seams and finishes.
