How to care for your competition swimwear

Competition swimsuits are technical garments with bonded seams and heat-sealed logos. They last much longer and keep their fit and compression when you handle them carefully:

• Rinse immediately in cold, clean water after every use—even after swimming in chlorine or saltwater. Don’t wait until you get home.
• Hand wash only. Never use a washing machine or tumble dryer. Heat, spinning, and friction break down fibers and loosen seams and logos.
• Use mild soap or detergent meant for swimwear. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners.
• Never wring out your suit. Gently press the water out instead.
• Dry flat in the shade, away from direct sun, radiators, and any sources of heat.
• Don’t leave your suit wet in a bag or rolled up in a towel—trapped heat and chemicals will wear down the materials.
• Avoid rough surfaces like pool edges and tiles that can snag seams and logos.
