Diving mask - Recommendations

You can enjoy yourself for hours with a diving mask / snorkel mask - both as a kid and as an adult. Therefore, it is also important to pick the right one, to benefit from it fully. It can quickly ruin the experience if it’s uncomfortable, lets in water, fogs up or pulls your hair too much - something that is sadly often experienced with the wrong masks.

When picking your diver's mask, you should make up your mind about several things:

• Colour of the skirt: A transparent skirt will let more light into the mask, which increases your visibility. On the other hand, a black skirt will only let in water through the glass, making it easier to focus on certain things under the water
• Two-piece or joint glass: A diving mask with a joint lens gives slightly better visibility, and is more rugged
• Size: This is the most significant thing to get a usable diving mask, that fits comfortably and doesn’t let in water. Pick a size that fits the age group that needs to wear the mask

To take good care of your diving mask and expand its lifetime, it is always recommended to store it in a good and solid case. The best ones have a hard shell that can take a beating, and will survive a drop on the ground. Even though the best diving masks have been treated with an antifog coating from the manufacturer, over time it will be necessary to treat them yourself with an antifog spray.
