Swimming trunks for men - Recommendations

Swimming trunks for men are almost a science in themselves.

The triangular swimming trunks for men were immortalized by Speedo, which is why many people refer to them as "Speedos". However, they have their own unique advantages, as they only cover the most necessary part of the body. This means that triangular swimming trunks provide a high degree of mobility, dry quickly and don't stick to your thighs when you get out of the water. On the other hand, they don't cover much of the body, so if you're shy, they're probably not the right choice for you.

However, square swimming trunks could be, as they are a good hybrid between triangle swimming trunks, long swimming trunks and swimming shorts. They provide a little more coverage, still allow good mobility in the hip area, and dry fairly quickly. 

However, swimming shorts are a different story, as their loose structure gives a more relaxed approach to swimwear. They cover a good amount from the waist down to the thighs and are looser in their materials. This means they're ideal for beach vacations or a casual trip to the beach, as they can be zipped up and down around the thigh so they don't bunch up and irritate.

Long swimming trunks - also known as jammers - live up to this standard. They give you the best feeling of what it's like to swim in competition swimming trunks without actually swimming in them. They are streamlined, hydrodynamic and have a close fit to the thighs. These long swimming trunks are often the most popular choice among ageing men for actual lane swimming.  

However, these challenges are completely different with neoprene swimming trunks, which are water-repellent, streamlined and provide good compression. This means they are ideal for serious swim training - even in open water. That's why they are designed for just that, and therefore not for the beach holiday down south.
