When you buy a wetsuit it’s always a bit of an investment. And even though most models have a high degree of quality and comfort, there are ways to make it a bit more comfortable for oneself, when you get in and out of your wetsuit.

One of the biggest irritations for many people that jumps into a wetsuit, for example on the beach, is when you trap dirt and sand in the suit itself. That can gnaw on your skin, which can make it irritated and sore.

Because of this it’s a good idea to stand on something, for example a changing mat that is sand-and water repellant. Then you can be sure that you won’t trap sand and dirt in the suit. A minor thing that can have a huge impact on the experience.

And if you are wearing your wetsuit for extended periods of time, and move around in it a lot, you may experience that it gnaws on your skin - especially around the openings at the arms, legs, and neck. This can lead to wounds, itching and reddening of the skin, which in many cases can start to burn. Here you will benefit greatly from a friction creme, that can create a protective layer between the skin and the wetsuit, even after the damage is done. It can help to mitigate many of the irritations and the discomfort, so you can earlier use the wetsuit for swimming or watersports.

As already mentioned, a wetsuit is a bit of an investment. And because of this, of course you also have to look after it. No matter how much you take care of it, however, you may experience little cracks in either the glue along the stitchings or the neoprene itself. In these cases, it’s important that you patch up the little cracks and holes fast, because it can otherwise lead to them getting bigger - you can do this with the special neoprene glue.
