Swimming trunks for boys - Recommendations

When considering buying swimming trunks for boys, there are a few things to consider. Generally speaking, there are 3 different types of swimming trunks, while swimming shorts are in a category of their own. If you look at the swimming trunks, they are available as triangular, square (trunks) and long (jammers). And it doesn't really matter which one you choose.

With triangular swimming trunks, you get a great all-round swimming trunk that provides good flexibility around the hip joint, is hydrodynamic and dries faster than other swimming trunks due to the smaller amount of fabric. On the other hand, the kid is much more exposed as they only cover the bare essentials, so it also depends on the kid's own modesty. Some kids don't care, but most older boys often prefer either the square or long ones that cover more.

This is where square swimming trunks are a great compromise. They provide a little more coverage, have good flexibility and still dry relatively quickly. This gives some benefits of a triangular swimming trunk, but also takes modesty into account. On the other hand, they are not quite as flexible around the hip joint and are therefore suitable for holidays in the south or a fun trip to the swimming pool.

Then there are jammers (long swimming trunks), which are typically the most popular choice for boys aged 6-14.

The last option is of course swimming shorts, which are much looser in their fit. This makes them ideal for beach holidays where there is a lot of water play. They don't fit close to the body and are therefore not recommended for actual lane swimming.
